Pre-Licensing Course.............(step two)

Ok last night I completed my five hour driver’s education lesson. This must be done before you are able to sit the actual road exam. Here in New York State the fact you have a drivers license from another Country has no relevance once you become a resident. You basically start from square one.
I turned up to my lesson very reluctantly I must add. Who wants to do a lesson on a Friday night for 5 hours? Well obviously anyone who wants to have a NYS Driver’s license as my class was full. Our Instructor Mr Cohen was a charismatic gentleman who came from Staten Island. He spent the first 30 minutes basically talking about his career which spanned the USA Postal service for many years. He would have been close to 70 and I have to say there was something just so likeable about him. He did consider himself to be somewhat funny which actually made him funny. He proceeded then to commence what would be a lesson type scenario where he would randomly ask questions to the class about various traffic situations. Luckily I answered all mine correctly.
He made me laugh as he did turn to me a few times when he laughed about the ways thing where done in England. I think he was getting England and Australia all mixed up. It’s quite common at times to be mistaken to be English rather than Australian as for some reason the accent sounds the same to some here?
The absolute highlight of my evening was the “video” we watched. Yes they had a VHS machine with an actual video. When he turned it on I honestly thought I was going to see Eric Estrada on one of those bikes in the sitcom “Chips”. But instead the narrator comes on and it’s the late Christopher Revee but when he was young like when he made the first “Superman” movie. The cars were exactly like the ones Chevy Chase drove in “National Lampoon’s Vacation”. It must have been at least 30 years old. I have never laughed so much!!
Luckily we ended up finishing after 2.5 hours and I know have my certificate. Next step is to book a road test..........................6-8 week wait here in New York City L
