Last Day of school

Today is the last day of school for Isabel. She is so excited too. I am probably more excited that we can slow down now and not have to rush for while. Luckily I have Annika still at preschool during the summer. This week however she is have a week off for 4th of July break.

The City seems to have gotten a bit quieter. Most of the kids are in Summer Camps which is essential for all the working parents.
I have not planned what we are doing however it will be nice to maybe just spend some time exploring again. I have been so busy with my new little business that the NY License has taken a back seat. I really need to get motivated to do it. I think its the fact I have to sit through a five hour class on driving that is really putting me off. I have been driving for over 20 years so I do feel it is rather unnecessary.

Ok better go and get the kids ready....................yay summer break

Equality for all...........New York I am so proud of you.

Last night was another one of the momentous occasions that I feel privileged to have been here in New York for. Same Sex marriages are now officially legal here in New York. I think the build up has been amazing and it’s so fabulous to see that finally Gays will be treated equally when it comes to LOVE.
I was signed up to do the “Pride run” today which was also their 30th anniversary. What an amazing run to do with such an intoxicating  atmosphere. People were running this race not only to be fit but to also celebrate a recognition that has been so overdue. There was such an expression of joy, unity and acceptance and I am so glad to be part of this moment in time. I hope the rest of the world especially Australia follow.

On the energy must have been magic as I did my best time and ran faster than Forrest Gump LOL!

Summer!!!

Well summer is here! It has been such a long time waiting for us having done back to back winters.
Isabel finishes school for about 8 weeks next Tuesday which she is so happy about. She missed out on the Australian summer break as it was winter here. We have not planned anything so hopefully we will be able to do more discovering. I do hope to be able to do a cruise to the Caribbean with the kids at the end of August. If not we will leave it till winter break here. The thought of the kids being in a “kids club” all day while I just relax in a spa is just heaven!!!
I cannot recommend cruises enough for families!!
I have been so busy with starting my own business. I have had a few Clients and it has been great to get back into this travel industry. I really enjoy doing the research and learning so much about what is to offer over here. It does seems so funny when I read material marketed to Americans about “exotic” destination of Australia. On the flip side when I mention how I am dying to get to Mexico or the Bahamas they seem to think it’s no big deal.
Life is very busy here especially with two daughters that have a better social life than me. It’s almost every weekend there is a party! I have made a group of friends who we do meet regularly with the kids. It is so lovely to walk down Columbus now and always bump into someone I know. I love the sense of community around my neighborhood.
I still have not felt homesick which is so strange to me? I loved having Peta and Marco here and I do miss their company however I just prefer my life over here.
I have another New York Road Runner race tomorrow so looking forward to that.

Getting Close to Summer

Well we have about another 2 weeks and the kids finish school for the summer. I am still trying to get used to it as its so different to Australia. Isabel is beside herself as she has not had a long break for almost 1 year. We moved here to Manhattan in November so she missed the Christmas break. The kids here only get a week off here for "The Holidays" over December/New Years.

My work is going great. I am slowly gaining Clients and it seems to be fellow Mom's that find my service ideal. Funny how us Mom's are online either late at night or really early in the morning.
We are planning to do a Cruise soon as I really what to experience this amazing Caribbean that is now at my door step.

Annika is finally "potty trained" so that last phase of "baby" is over. Life just get easier now which is just perfect as we all live our amazing adventure here in New York.
